Due to its compact size, 50 Ohm source impedance, and ideal pulse-characteristics, the MG15-3C-940PF has become HVP’s workhorse Marx Generator. With use in a wide variety of applications, including high-powered RF, triggering of larger pulsed power system, vehicle stopping, and materials studies; this generator represents the highest level of technical readiness in HVP’s family of Marx Generators. The generator is capable of delivering 300 kV onto 50 Ohms (600 kV open-circuit), a peak power of approximately 1.7 GW, fast rise-times (800 ps to 5 ns depending on additional peaking), and a moderate pulse width (~25 ns). Because of its well-understood thermal characteristics, this Marx Generator is also capable of operating with very high (>100 Hz) repetition rates for short durations.

With a 600 kV open circuit voltage, the MG15-3C-940PF is capable of delivering 300 kV into a 50 Ohm load, with a peak power of approximately 1.7 GW. The generator is also capable of operating with very high repetition rates for short durations.
